Molasses Butter Sugar Cookies

Last week, I hosted a special guest from UK.  Since everyone would come to Penang for its popular local hawker delight, originally thought of skipping this week's Molasses Butter Sugar Cookies (from Rose's The Baking Bible) as we might not have sufficient time and stomach room to consume these cookies.  So glad I made these cookies - my visitor described them as everything a good cookie should be.

Who can resist the temptation of sweet, juicy mangoes and cheesecake?  When I read Rose’s Mango Bango Cheesecake recipe, the use of Indian mangoes and saffron in the recipe excites me. 

My First Pie - Cherry Sweetie Pie

There's something about pie crust that scares me off even more than bread making.  I am deeply fearful of failing to make a flaky crust and the entire pie making process.  Such a loss - I kept The Pie and Pastry Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum in the book shelf for so many years.

And yes, I just said not sure if there's going to be a part 2 (french toast) but it was like an unfinished business.  It is still hard to keep away from eating the fresh loaf but the hint of rum with every bite of these moist eggy raisin goodness is worth every effort.

This is my first Baking Bible bakealong activity.  Thanks to the alpha bakers group for the inspiration to break out from my comfort zone and make great things like my very first bread loaf.   After baking this loaf, I never want to buy bread again.
